The Department of Civil Engineering and Maintenance was carved out of the then Engineering Department in the Year 1985.

1. To be a department where adequate attention is given to the Maintenance of Infrastructural facilities in the hospital as well as infrastructural development for the comfortability of both Patients and Health Workers.

   Mission Statement

   To provide good quality and modern techniques/methods of maintaining infrastructural facilities and also come up with modern designs/constructions of infrastructural facilities for the overall benefit of the patients and Health Workers.

   Since the existence of the Department the following Units were created namely:

4. Maintenance Unit (Ife Hospital Unit, Ile-Ife) with the following section comprising of:
   1. Carpentry Section.
   2. Masonry Section.
   3. Plumbing Section.
   4. Painting Section.
   5. Water Services Section.
5. Maintenance Unit (Wesley Guild Hospital, Ilesa) with the following Section:
   1. Carpentry Section.
   2. Masonry Section.
   3. Plumbing Section.
   4. Painting Section.
   5. Water Services Section.

Projects Unit of the Department is equipped with qualified Professionals and Trademen viz:

1. Two Architects
2. A Civil Engineers
3. A Builder
4. A Quantity Surveyor
5. Graduate Technical Staff
6. Artisans ans Craftsmen

With the professional competence of these professionals, the following task are carried out:

• Design and Supervision of various Building projects undertaken by the Institution
• Design and Supervision of Civil works undertaken by the institution
• Preparation of Bill of Quantities for all the projects undertaken by the institution.

These Units are responsible for general maintenance of all the Buildings and Roads for the Institution in all aspects.

The Water Services Section is responsible for Water supply in the Institution.

The Estate Unit is saddled with the following responsibilities:

1. General Administration of OAUTHC landed properties.
2. Execution of policies and where necessary assists in formulating policies on matter related to Estate Management as directed from time to time by the management.
3. Allocation of furniture items to Staff Quarters, Offices, Wards, Hall of Residence, Hostels etc.
